The biggest game of the year for rivals Cedartown and Rockmart is off for 2021, and though folks might be saying “what if” about the canceled there is one item left over that should be a poignant reminder of what’s really important.

The Rockmart High cheer squad was supposed to unfurl their run-through banner for the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday evening, giving the public a chance to see their positive message for both squads.

It read: “Great rivalries don’t have to be built on hatred. They’re built on a respect… On a respect for excellence. Better Together.”

Rockmart High School posted a picture of the cheer squad with the banner on Wednesday evening after it was announced the game was called off because of COVID-19 cases within the Cedartown High School football team.

The Lady Jackets cheer squad will have to quickly come up with a new run-through banner for the team as they head to face Villa Rica on Saturday evening. The 0-1 Wildcats were supposed to be playing Temple, but their game was called off as well.
