Wood, Wesley take top spots in 2025 CVAF race

The Cedar Valley Arts Festival Road Race provided runners the chance to show off their speed in the 5K challenge, and one visiting high schooler showed they are setting a rapid pace running around the North College Street neighborhood.

Gaston Brantley Wood of Ohatchee took the overall first place spot in this year’s 5K run, finishing with a time of 6:34 to take the gold on Saturday morning ahead of the start of the festival. The top spot among female racers was Cedartown High School’s Helen Wesley.

Local pastor Wayne Benefield continues his pacing for senior runners as the top of his category in the 75-and-up crowd.

Wheelchair racers also took part in this year’s event.
