Rockmart has done it again.
Five individual wrestlers took the top spot in Georgia’s Class AA Traditional State Title this weekend, and the team racked up 220 points overall to grapple their way to the fourth state title in a row.
Eli Bowman, Major Chambers, Malachi Macedonio, Garrett Pace and Nahzir Turner each took gold in their respective weight class in Macon in the State Traditional tournament for Class AA wrestling. Runners-up in the state for their weight classes are Logan Opdycke, Hagen Sharpe, Luke Clay, and Tyler Malone.
Along with earning an individual state title, Pace was honored as the Class AA Wrestler of the State’s Traditional tournament.
Additionally, three wrestlers notched qualifier spots: Jayten Waddell, Carey Tucker and Audrey Sadler.
Rockmart was 97 points over the closes competitor in Union County during this weekend’s event. Cook took third with 113 points, and Toombs fourth with 106 points.
Three other 7-AA competitors took part as well: Murray County finished with a 9th place spot, Model in 10th place and North Murray in 14th.
All of the nine Rockmart finalists took either the top spot or runner-up spot in the final day of the wrestling traditionals after Friday matches.
Rockmart already notched their fourth State Duals title in a row back in January.
