A team of locals smiled after taking the top scores on the golf course, and helping their favorite high school team in the process.

This past Friday, July 22, some 24 teams took to the course to play in a tournament, a fundraiser for the 2022 Yellow Jackets football squad. Teammates Kevin Bullard, Chad Smith, Caroline Peek and Jake Dooley took gold in the tournament this year.

Bullard also was a big contributor, providing a $2,500 sponsorship this year.

This was the fourth year the Jackets football squad held the tournament to raise money for the team.

Rockmart will kick off their August pre-season with the first scrimmage next Friday, August 5 at home hosting the Bremen Blue Devils.

The regular season starts on August 19 at home in the Battle of Polk County with Cedartown.
