The Rockmart Lady Jackets continue to roll onto leading the way in the region as they dominate all comers at home and on the road in the opening days of March. Just this week alone, they’ve picked up a pair of region victories to put them at 3-0 so far in 7-AA.
Gordon Central faced off against Rockmart and took a loss in both doubles and singles in the latest region matches. Emma Scott took a pair of 6-0 sets over Reagan Kerce in the one spot, while Ava Shae Culver overtook Cheyenne Eubanks in a 6-0, 6-1 pair of sets in the second spot.
Ansley Lanier downed Breanna Weller in a pair of 6-0 sets in the third spot.
In doubles play, Maddie Owens and Madi Sanders took 6-0 wins, and Emma Barber and Chloe Motes took a 6-0, 6-2 pair of wins during Tuesday’s region opener.
They had a move in the schedule to accommodate home matches on Wednesday to host Murray County in region play as well to avoid the weather.
Another sweep moved the Lady Jackets to 8-1 on the year so far over the Lady Indians. Scott, Culver and Lanier swept in singles in two sets apiece, and the doubles combos of Owens and Sanders, and Barber and Caldwell cleaned up in two sets each as well.
Scott took a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Allie Webb, Culver went 6-0, 6-1 against Julia Sellers and Lanier won in a clean sweep 6-0, 6-0 over Callan Ledford.
The doubles combo of Owens and Sanders took 6-0, 6-2 over Nat Cruz and Megan Beavers, and Barber and Caldwell went 6-1, 6-0 over Lily Sheran and Gracie Goins.
The Lady Jackets have also picked up recent wins over Bremen and Fannin County this month as well.
Rockmart has Haralson County coming up on Monday, and Coosa on Wednesday next week in region and area play. They’ll face off against Cedartown on March 20.
