Cedartown overcomes 4-run deficit in first to bounce back in late innings
The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs looked like they were in trouble after Adairsville put up a big 4-run first inning to open the 2023 season at home on Friday.
They didn’t panic, grabbing a run in the first, and then both teams held fast on defense through the sixth inning with the score locked at 4-1 in favor of the Lady Tigers.
A late rally saved the day in the sixth and seventh as the Lady Bulldogs added a run in the bottom of the sixth, and then three runs in the seventh come away with a opening-day win over Adairsville late in the game.
Juniors Hayvin Barclay and Kendall Howard, and sophomore Chasity Washington all got the pitches they were looking for on the day as Barclay got two hits and scored twice, Howard put up a double for an RBI and Washington drove in a run and scored twice on her own.
