The Cedartown Lady Dawgs are still in contention for the playoffs, sitting in fourth place in the region with hopes of making their mark in the new 7-4A this year against some tough competition.
The Lady Dawgs took some losses over the past week that have put the squad on their back heels, going 3-4 overall in September so far and moving to a 15-7 record overall.
Wins over Hiram and Dalton have kept the team competitive in region play, and a win over Paulding County helped increase their win total on the year. But recent losses to Allatoona, Rockmart, Cass and Cartersville have brought some heartbreakers to a close over the past two weeks.
Cedartown’s most recent game hosting Cartersville in region play ended with a 14-0 shutout as they fell to the Lady Hurricanes.
The Lady Bulldogs do at least have high hopes for the coming days. They are back in action in tournament play against Carrollton and LaGrange on Saturday, then have Rockmart on the road on Monday, Sept. 16, followed by a Tuesday region matchup with Southeast Whitfield on Sept. 17, and a trip to Woodland on Thursday, Sept. 19.
They’ll round out the season with three contests in October: a homestand against Cass on Oct. 1, a trip to Dalton on Oct. 3, and a final region matchup at Cartersville on Oct. 8.
