A new league for youth who usually aren’t able to play sports is starting up in Cedartown, and a meeting is scheduled for parents who want their kids to get a chance to enjoy the game.
Recreation Director Jeff Hulsey is excited to announce the formation of the Cedartown Dream League within the Cedartown Recreation Department, which will start this year and provide youth with special needs to be able to take part in the recreation department’s programs free of charge.
“We’re trying to come up with a sport that youth with special needs something to participate in as well,” Hulsey. “It also provides parents an opportunity, because it gives us an opportunity to work with their kids while they get to enjoy watching in the stands.”
Baseball will be the opening sport for youth to participate in the Cedartown Dream League this year.
Hulsey said there is an organizing meeting coming up on February 15 for parents and potential volunteers to take part at 6:30 p.m.
Those interested in participating can register at the meeting. The city is making this available free of charge for all participants who qualify for the league thanks to generous donations made by the community.
Parents do have to sign a waiver for youth to take part.
Here’s the official flyer:

“They’ll get a uniform, and just like all the other kids will be taking part in the opening day ceremonies,” Hulsey said.
Games will be held late Saturday mornings at Biggers Field. Opening Day will be the same as the other youth sports in Cedartown on March 19.
Signups for the league will end on February 28. Additional information can be had by visiting the Recreation Department offices, or calling Hulsey at 470-999-3086.
Additional information will follow about opening day ceremonies for parents and youth.
