Rockmart took at 23-7 loss to open the season against Rome, but have the opportunity to bounce back again this week as they head to Cedartown looking for their fourth win in a row over the Bulldogs.
Some notes from the game:
- Rockmart’s defense continues to look tough up front and can make big plays, and the secondary featuring playmakers like Jakari Clark (see video) will give the Jackets a chance to succeed throughout the rest of the year, especially in region play (where it matters.
- Jackets QB JD Davis is just as good on the run as he is on the pass, but beware: he’ll need blockers up front to bring on Rockmart victories week after week.
- Brent Washington is just as good on defense as he is on offense, and will likely be a key factor against the Bulldogs offense coming up this week.
- The Wolves are a team to be reckoned with in 2021.
Rockmart, coming off a win over Bremen and a loss to Carrollton in the pre-season, looks to get revenge for the season opener loss on the road at Cedartown in the annual Battle of Polk County rivalry game. The Jackets hold a three-game winning streak from 2018 through 2020 and look to extend it to four.
Cedartown holds the overall win record in the game at 51-25-2. Cedartown took a win over 7-A Denmark last Friday on the road 7-3 with a late pick six against the Danes.
