The Rockmart Yellow Jackets are champions. No, not the ones we hoped might be this year.

Yet there’s plenty of reason to celebrate the 12-and-under title winners as the Rockmart Recreation squad finished off with a victory over Villa Rica this weekend in a championship game.

Final score was 14-6 in the Jackets’ favor over the Wildcats.

The team got to hoist their championship trophy after going 4-2 in the regular season and winning a pair of playoff games (title game included in the pair.)

Rockmart Recreation Director Jeff Holstein was proud of the squad.

“This team did a great job and fought all season for the trophy,” Holstein said. “They lost two regular season games but came back to win the championship.”
