With a more thorough list in hand of recent grads who are playing on the college level, both Cedartown and Rockmart fans have players to cheer for on Saturdays throughout the nation who are gearing up and heading onto the gridiron on Saturdays.
Division I players who are getting a chance to suit up and show off their talents this season include Clemson running back Kobe Pace and in the same position at West Virginia, Tony Mathis Jr.
Pace in the second game of the season had a great game against South Carolina State with seven carries and 68 yards, and his first career rushing touchdown for the year. That puts him at 11 carries for 73 yards so far on the young season, and a catch for six yards.

Mountaineer Tony Mathis Jr. got into the game against Long Island University in West Virginia’s big win over this past weekend. He had 20 yards on the day against the Sharks defense.
A Rockmart grad who also suited up in a big game over the weekend was UTC Mocs Javin Whatley, a freshman at the Chattanooga college. He was recruited to play wide receiver, but he didn’t get any catches for the Mocs in this outing. The Mocs beat North Alabama 20-0.
Former Jacket Deacon Allen made his way to Akron University, but hasn’t found playing time as a offensive lineman for the Zips in their first two games of 2021. He joined the ranks after graduating in 2020.
Now Junior Chandler Cooper remains at Doane University in Nebraska playing for the NAIA school, and suited up in their past two games. This past outing he put up a 2 completion, 51-yard game against Morningside in a 56-14 loss.
Coffeyville Community College’s Zah Frazier put up four tackles and two assists serving as a Red Raven defensive back in their win over Dodge City Community College in Kansas last weekend. He’s still a potential prospect for Tennessee coming from community college after a stint at Southern Illinois University.
Point University’s Quan Neal put up four tackles and three assists in the Skyhawks loss to Morehead State last weekend. He’s a junior on the Point University squad this year.
Trevon Wofford at Pike University is expected to finally get to open the season this weekend. The UPike squad was supposed to play against St. Thomas University in Miami to open their season on Sept. 4, but the game was canceled. UPike plays against Bluefield University at home this coming Saturday.
