Jackets tournament sees girls squad come away with a victory

The Rockmart High School campus on Saturday morning resembled a strange maze. It was put together for good reason: to host teams around the area for a Cross Country meet in which the Lady Jackets took a win on their still-young season.

Varsity, Junior Varsity and Middle School runners all had races during the weekend event as the season gets underway in their first meet of 2021 in the Jackets Early Bird Tune-Up race on August 21.

The Jackets and Lady Jackets runners for high school and middle school squads are lacing up their running shoes again this Saturday for the annual Ridge Ferry Invitational in Rome on August 28.

The high school teams get to travel for their third meet to Jekyll Island on Labor Day weekend on September 3 and 4, and the Middle School squads are Woodland High School on Sept. 4 in The Run at the Rock.
