A new scoreboard sound system is going up at The Doc, and a new sound system is going be installed at the Cedartown High School gymnasium in the coming months following a Board of Education vote on Tuesday.
The Board approved a $481,433 cost from RKR Construction (a guaranteed maximum price, meaning that RKR eats the cost if it runs over) for the Cedartown High football stadium and the Cedartown High School gym.
Much of that cost is going to be deferred thanks to a grant being provided by the Tripp Foundation totaling $300,000. After the grant funding, the district had to put up $181,433 to match and fund the project completely.
The district in recent years previously approved installing a new video scoreboard system at The Doc, along with a new LED-based lighting system that allows for celebratory shows and more. The stadium also saw the installation of a new entrance ahead of the start of the 2023 season for a pass gate area, and a artificial turf installation.
Both of Polk County’s teams will now have some of the best football experiences in the area, per new Board Chair Chris Culver.
Rockmart’s video scoreboard, lighting system, turf installation and renovated press box are among some of the recent changes on the eastern side of the county at The Rock.
