Junior Hunter Atkins is heading off to college with the Class of 2025, and he’s already got a place to go when he completes his time as a Yellow Jacket at Rockmart High School.
The Rockmart Baseball Facebook page announced this evening that Atkins will be the latest Jacket to head to a Division I program and Southeastern Conference school, and will be slightly closer to home than the previous SEC commit.
Atkins has committed to the University of Georgia baseball program to play for the Bulldogs, but only after he’s done giving the Jackets his all in the spring 2024 and 2025 campaigns.
Though he’s signing to play baseball with the Bulldogs when he graduates, Atkins also plays Varsity Basketball for the Jackets as well.
The lefty pitcher and first baseman plays travel ball as well with the East Cobb Astros.
