Good news? For the moment, both Cedartown and Rockmart are playing in their regions this week.

The bad news? Rockmart fans will have to come out on Thursday night instead.

Polk School District announced on Tuesday that ahead of the threat of severe weather coming from the landfall of Hurricane Ian on Friday, Rockmart High School with the cooperation of Model High School moved their upcoming homestand against the Blue Devils to Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs remain on their Friday night schedule for 7:30 p.m. to play the Central Carroll Lions.

Tuesday’s announcement comes with several teams choosing to move their games up in order to avoid the potential for severe weather impacting the schedule.

Haralson County at Gordon Central moved up their game to Thursday at 7:30 p.m., along with Dalton at Hiram, and Cartersville vs Calhoun is also kicking off on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Rome at Woodstock, as well as Darlington at Coosa was also among the teams so far in the area to announce a move to Thursday night.

Some teams have moved up their game times on Thursday as well, with North Paulding taking on Walton at 8 p.m.
