Local Raceway owner Clint Brock has for many years supported Rockmart athletics with his Pump 18 campaign. A portion of fill-ups from that pump go back to RHS athletics throughout the year, with thousands of dollars donated since its inception.

He gave back a bit more by playing host over the weekend for a group of teen players who are about to start their fall season on the diamond.

Rockmart’s Lady Jackets softball squad took up some space at the gas station on Saturday (with the help of Coach Luke as well) by holding a car wash fundraiser at Raceway. They were out during the morning until lunchtime scrubbing vehicles for donations.

The team has a busy schedule in the coming days, especially during the first week of school as the season opens.

The Lady Jackets hold their first scrimmage at home against Pepperell on Thursday at 5 p.m. ahead of the start of the season on Friday and Saturday in the Cass tournament at Hamilton Crossing.

Rockmart hosts Cedartown for the first of two on August 9 at 5:30 p.m. Their region opener against North Murry follows on Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. at home.
