CHS Class of 2025 now has 2 D-I commits heading out of state as Demarcus Gardner goes with Univ. of Central Florida
Demarcus Gardner is Orlando-bound after his senior year.
The junior wide receiver/cornerback put up a stellar season in 2023 for the Cedartown Bulldogs, and he’ll have another shot this fall for his senior campaign before he graduates with the Class of 2025.
Gardner’s performance during his career so far has landed him offers from schools across the country, and now he’s settled on where he wants to go with an announcement on Monday.
Gardner decided to go with the University of Central Florida’s Golden Knights football program. He posted his announcement on social media with the following:
He told PolkSportsWire that during his visits to UCF, it felt like he was at home with family.
“It was a dream come to true to be able to get the offer and commit, I made my parents proud, awesome campus and can’t wait to get up there soon!” Gardner
Gardner will be committing to UCF for a defensive position (likely at cornerback) following his graduation next year.
He’s one of two Cedartown standouts heading to D-I schools in the Class of 2025. Gardner joins Tae Harris with a commitment for his future on the field and in school after the Bulldog rising senior announced on Monday he’ll be joining the Clemson Tigers following graduation.
Gardner’s 2023 campaign ended with impressive numbers on both sides of the ball. He went 9 carries for 40 yards on the ground on offense and 33 receptions for 793 yards and 11 touchdowns on the year. When he plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage, a 22 tackle performance (21 solo) and 3 interceptions and a fumble recovery make him one of the top defensive performers on the team as well.
The Bulldogs will get a chance to see Gardner before his senior year begins one more time when they play a spring game before the end of the school year.
