Polk School District announced just minutes ago that the Rockmart at Cedartown season opener has been moved up a night.

The annual showdown between the rivals – aka The Battle of Polk County – game time is now set for Thursday, August 17 with a kickoff at 7 p.m.

The Cedartown Bulldogs are set to host the opener after pulling off a 24-14 win in scrimmage play over Cass at home this past Thursday.

The Jackets played an August 4 scrimmage against Bremen on the road and won 34-6, while dropped their second pre-season game against Rome this past Thursday, August 10 in a 48-6 loss.

The Bulldogs won last year’s matchup to open the year.

We have an important update regarding the highly anticipated rivalry game between Cedartown and Rockmart this week! The game has been rescheduled to take place on Thursday, August 17th, instead of the initially planned date of Friday, August 18th.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as this change was unavoidable due to the availability of game officials. We hope to see our community show up to support our Cedartown Bulldogs and Rockmart Yellow Jackets as they battle it out on the field! Let’s pack the stands and cheer on our teams!
